Philippines’ 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion Kills ISIS Top 2 Commanders

Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute (Maute Group) have been killed by the 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion and snipers of the 4th Light Reaction Company in Marawi, the Philippines Defense Secretary confirmed on Monday, placing the military on the cusp of victory over the ISIS-backed insurgency.

After 6 months of brutal urban fighting, 160 soldiers KIA and an estimated 1000 enemy fighters dead, President Duterte’s controversial decision to place the entire island of Mindanao under martial is now being justified.

The following video shows the 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion in action. They exemplify what it means to be a professional military and are clearly influenced by Western training standards and weaponry.
